APOSTILLE SERVICE

What is document authentication?

Document authentication is the process of certifying a Canadian-issued document with official seals to verify its legitimacy for international use.

What is apostille?

  • An apostille is a certificate that simplifies the process of authenticating public documents for international use, which is only issued and accepted between the members of the Hague Apostille Convention.

  • List of countries are members of the Hague Apostille Convention

Hague Apostille Convention vs. Non-Member Countries

  • If your receiving country is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention:
The Canadian authority can issue an Apostille Certificate to simplify the process by eliminating the need for further authentication by the Embassy or Consulate of the receiving country.
  • If your receiving country is not a member:
The document must be submitted to the Embassy or Consulate of the receiving country in Canada for authentication.
